When and how did you get involved with Cardiff Youth Service?
I have worked with children and young people for over 25 years and I have been a youth worker for over 20 years now. I was a play worker before that and it was a natural progression as my children grew up.
Languages I Speak
Languages I Speak: English.
Favourite thing about working for Cardiff Youth Services
Making a difference. Facilitating change in a young persons life so that they are able to make the best choice for them.
Best memory working for Cardiff Youth Services
There are so many when you've been a youth worker for over 20 years, it's hard to pick one. But one of my proudest moments was when I received recognition for my work and was awarded the Youth Worker of the Year in 2012. I don't do the job for trophies but every now and then a thank you helps you realise that you are valued.
FAVOURITE FOOD
Italian.
FAVOURITE BISCUIT
Crunchie Nut with the emphasis on the NUTCrunchie Nut with the emphasis on the NUT.
HOBBIES & INTERESTS
I love anything creative. I paint, I cook and I cake decorate. I also love to read a lot.
ROLE MODEL
My Grandmother. She was an amazing lady who fought for peoples rights. She marched on Downing Street with a partition for fair pensions for pensioners. She was an actives to the end. She taught me to be strong and to speak out for those without a voice. She instilled a good work ethic into me.
FIRST JOB
My first job as an adult was the Army. I went into the Army at 18 and left just before my 22nd birthday.
