About Us

Cardiff Youth Service works with young people aged 11-25 to develop personal, social and educational development through opportunities, activities, experiences, information support and guidance that enable young people to reach their unique full potential. We work with young people in a variety of settings offering a universal offer and targeted intervention.

Whether you’re working with young people day-to-day or are a family friend, if you know someone who needs a boost to develop their confidence and skills, we can work with you to ensure they get the support they need through our Youth Mentoring programme. We believe all young people can achieve their potential with the right opportunities and tailored support that meets their needs.

How to refer

Referring a young person is a simple process. You will need to complete one of the following referral forms, depending on the age of the young person you are referring. If you are making a referral for a young person who is of school age, please complete this referral form:  EIP Form/ POST-16 FORM. Here is a flowchart explaining the referral process: referral process pdf

There are a number of ways you can get involved with Cardiff Youth Service. If you are a young person aged 11-25, why not become a Youth Service member? You will be supported by our Youth Work team and have  the opportunity to take part in a range of activities and new experiences .Find out how to become a Youth Service member. 

Our service seeks to provide opportunities which support volunteers to work with young people in communities, encouraging them to play a part in changing the lives of young people. Youth Work careers often start with youth clubs and volunteers providing activities, guidance and life skills for young people! It all starts with you and we’re here to help. Cardiff Youth Service offers a range of exciting and diverse placements for students attending Youth and Community Work courses from Level 2 through to Level 7.  All placements are structured around the National Occupational Standards and meet the requirements of the relevant course. Cardiff Youth Service are part of Cardiff Council’s Education department. We work with young people aged 11-25 to develop personal, social and educational development through a variety of opportunities. We do this in communities through participatory experiences and offer information, support and guidance to enable young people to reach their unique full potential. We work with young people in a variety of settings offering both universal and, for those identified as vulnerable, targeted support.

Our youth workers and youth support workers are a nationally qualified, registered workforce. Children’s rights and the UNCRC is embedded in all of the work we do, with regular consultations occuring on an ongoing basis. Cardiff council are committed to a partnership with UNICEF to make Cardiff a child-friendly city .

Our engagement with young people takes place in youth centres, youth clubs, on the street (where young people are!), in schools, and in communities. We also engage in digital spaces, and you can follow our various social media channels to find out more. We are committed to collaboration and forming partnerships in communities throughout Cardiff.
